Review: Weezer (The Teal Album) by Ryan Litvak

Updated: Feb 24, 2020

Weezer fans will no longer be silent and complicit in the face of discrimination.

When Pitchfork gave Make Believe a 0.4, we were silent.

When Beavis and Butt-head laughed incredulously at the Buddy Holly music video, we were silent.

When Rolling Stone gave Pinkerton 3/5 stars, we were silent.

When Swim Suit Issue called Rivers Cuomo the “King of beta male misogynists” and “The worst boyfriend ever”, we were silent.

When Consequence Of Sound gave Raditude a D+ and said “Rivers Cuomo will never write another Pinkerton”, we were silent.

When Weezer released Pacific Daydream, we were silent.

When Rivers Cuomo himself said Only In Dreams was “GAY GAY GAY DISNEY GAY”, we were silent.

When Leslie Jones said Weezer was the worst band of all time, we were silent.

When the television series "Detour" based on Rivers Cuomo’s time at Harvard was axed by the Fox network, we were silent.

When Exclaim implied that Weezer wasn’t going ‘back to the shack’, but rather in the right direction towards the shack, we were silent.

The time for silence is over.

The Teal album deserves the recognition it merits. 10/10 Perfect score.
